Noggerath®
Grit Washer
GW / GWL

More environmentally conscious disposal, significant reduction of costs: Our grit washers reduce the amount of organic material in the washed grit, and the smaller amount of residual grit significantly lowers transport costs.

Unique Features

  • Significant reduction of disposal costs by reducing the organic matter content to ≤ 3%.
  • Significant reduction of storage and transport costs due to mass reduction – depending on the starting material up to 85%.
  • Processable coarse solids up to 35 mm
  • Less fine sand discharge and low wash water consumption
  • Less turbulence in the washing zone and thus low ascent speed

Insights

The Passavant-Geiger offers you the world's largest program of grit washing systems and the greatest variety of constructional and process engineering variants. This enables us to optimally adapt the sand treatment process to the respective framework conditions.

The Noggerath® Grit Washer GW (dry feed) is used to wash out organic fractions from pre-dewatered grit trap material or sewer flushing sand. An integrated agitator mechanically dissolves or stirs up the organic constituents, which are then washed out in an upflow process by the addition of washing water. The washed out components are flushed out with the washing water through the discharge nozzle and discharged into the sewage treatment plant for further treatment. The washed grit is discharged from the grit washing tank by a spiral conveyor and discarded.

The Noggerath® Grit Washer GWL (liquid feed) operates additionally with an upstream longitudinal grit trap in order to be able to wash higher feed quantities or grit-water mixtures such as e.g. sewer flushing sand. Due to the buffer volume of the longitudinal grit trap and the resulting flow inclination, the contaminated grit sinks directly into the intake area of the grit scraper as a result of its own weight. The overflow water is fed to the further clarification process. The contaminated sand is transported into the sand washer by the rotating movement of the bottom spiral.

The sand washing process corresponds to the sand washing described above.
